Odessa's Birthday Party

Hi, everyone!

Last weekend I hosted a little birthday party for my bunny, Odessa, as she turned seven this July. It all started as a joke by my fiancé, but I fell in love with the idea and wanted to have the bunny birthday party for real. It was mainly a good excuse to wear a bunny themed outfit and meet with some dear friends - but it was also a chance for me to celebrate all the years I've had with Odessa so far. I can never know how many years Odessa still has left, so it's better to party while she's here. ♥ Naturally we gave Odessa some treats and petted her a lot. Chico also got his share of the attention.

{Brooch - Emmi-Riikka Vartiainen / bracelet - selfmade / earrings - Charming Girls}

Mimi brought her bunnybear bag, too.

I made (among other treats) matcha & chocolate cookies for the party. They were delicious, and I'll certainly bake these again in the future. There are some minor things I want to improve, though - it was my first time trying out this recipe.

And here's our birthday girl (or should I say 'granny'?) watching over her minions on the game board.

Lavender & Black

Hello, everyone!

Me and my fiancé had a date on Monday, and I got to wore lolita after such a long time. My hair is completely over grown, so it was clearly time for a hat day.

{Dress - Innocent World / brooch - Emmi-Riikka Vartiainen / the rest - second hand, offbrand}

I really like this wooden bunny brooch and want to wear it all the time. Luckily it's quite neutral in colour, so it kinda matches with everything.

We found this necklace from a flea market. We think it's an older Kalevala jewelry piece.

After a lunch and the flea market we went to The Ounce, where we ran into some of my friends. Karakuri drew this cute picture of us. ♥

In the end, have a picture of Chico and Odessa, my two fluffbuts. ♥ We'll have him with us 'till Monday. It's nice to spend some time with him, and I'm planning to go for a long walk everyday - I just hope it doesn't rain too much.

The Eternal City (Part 1)

Good evening, lords and ladies!

I finally went trough the Rome pictures, so here's some moments from our Roman holiday (yes, I just had to say that).

On our first day in Rome, it rained and thundered, but that was totally okay because we spent that time sleeping in our hotel room. I'm always exhausted on arrival if we take an early morning flight, as we now did, and it was really nice to sleep while listening to the rain outside. After our nap it was still a little bit rainy, but not nearly as much, so we went to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria Machiore.

This Cathedral was really big, bold and beautiful, and yet it was nothing compared to the Basilica of St. Peter's, as we would later discover. (Pictures of St. Peter's are coming up in the next post!)

In the evening the sky was beginning to clear up and we got to see a lovely, pink sunset. For the rest of our trip, it was sunny and hot.

The next day we went to Colosseum and the Palatino Hill. Colosseum lived up to it's name, it was even larger than I had imagined it to be.

I always look like a disaster on our holidays, no matter how I try! I would really like to know how do some people manage to look pretty on their vacations...

Standing on a marple floor that's hundreds of years old. Each shade of marple had to be imported from the different corners of the world, so the owners of this house must have been very wealthy!

We visited so many incredible places in Rome, and that was great. But the best moments of our holiday were not those we spent admiring the sights. What I really liked most was when we just wondered up and down the narrow streets. It was really hard to get any decent pictures of them, as the light and shadows were just too strong. I just loved them anyway. The sights were always super crowded (of course), but on the little streets there were no other travellers, just us and some locals.

There was so much to see! In every corner there were little but pompous churches,  colourful houses, flower wines climbing the walls, lovely boutiques and restaurants... and most importantly, it was so peaceful and relaxing (though naturally our feet were killing us each day). One day, we walked all the way from the Vatican to our hotel. It took half a day, but it was wonderful and totally worth the foot pains.

And the food and gelatos there, of my Goddes, they were so delicious! We only ate in places where the locals ate, too, and so all the food was really good, and quite affordable also. We love food (we really do), and it's important for us that we eat well on our holidays. Now we most certainly did! (Actually the only place so far where the food was not good was London, and that's why we didn't like it that much).

P.S. Now that we are on the subject of travelling; I had a panel about travelling and packing tips for lolita in Hellocon and I was wondering should I also post those tips here?

Lolita Blog Carnival: What I Would Like to See in Future Prints

Hello, lords and ladies!

Although I'm not particularly craving for prints right now, I still thought I'd take part in today's Lolita Blog Carnival topic. Here's what I'd like to see in future prints - heck, if someone really made these happen, I'd certainly wear them, too!

1. Boeing 737 majestically taking over  atop of a buzzling metropolis, also shown in silhouette, or atleast effortlessly gliding through the fiery sunset skies. Travelling continues to be one of my greatest passions and I have always loved airplanes. In my past I've worked mostly with Boeing 737s and it's still my favourite model. In a print, this would naturally be a one time, large image on the hem, and the upper part of the dress would be either black or dark blue, depending on the print colours. Maybe someone could even release both "ink black" and "midnight blue" colourways? Pretty please?!

2. Unicorns. In all of my ears in lolita, I have not yet seen a brand release dress that captures unicorns just right. Historical unicorns are lovely, too, but I can't really take the pastel, cutese wutesy, stuffed toy like unicorns. That's just not what unicorns are for me. Ever since I was a kid, I've been obsessed with unicorns and in my mind they continue to be pure, wild, fierce, mystical and powerful creatures. Not something you would pet. In short, I'd like to see unicorn prints that really capture them right and do them justice.

2. Bunnies. Same as with unicorns, I'd like to see more natural looking bunny prints. I have no objections to bunny prints being cutesy wutesy, though, because that's what they really are. A bunny print where the bunnies hop in a forest or on a flower meadow would be just wonderful.

3. Books, but this time in pastel, or at least faded colours. We've seen some amazing book dresses from brands, but they all tend to be quite dark and heavy. I would like to see something more fresh and light this time. The books could still be old fashioned, of course, just change the colour schemes.

4. Why of course, tea, tea cups, tea pots, tea parties, pastries - yes please! Tea is one of my dearest hobbies (amongst travelling, bunnies and books) and I never tire of tea releated prints, no matter how often they are seen. As with book prints, I'd like to see something a little bit more mature, rather than cute. Faded pastels, antique cups, maybe some Rococo influences...

5. Flowers, as they also are one of my all time favourite themes in lolita (and in everything else too). But instead of the usual roses (though I adore them, too) I'd like to see delicate, small wild flowers. A meadow, or maybe flowers taking over some ancient ruins... Something really summer-y and fairytale like. The print could be really realistic, or really dreamy and look like it was painted with watercolours.

6. Conclusion: I'd like to see prints that are either really striking in colour, or really soft and faded. I'd like to see old lolita themes re-invented in a way that we haven't seen them yet. I'd also like to see more border, or at least on the hem only prints, the kind of prints that don't look too busy, nor too boring either. The perfect balance (yes, I can be quite demanding sometimes)!

What would you, dears, like to see in future prints, be it in lolita or any other fashion you may like? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments!

Dress Dreams and Bunny Ears

Hello, everyone!

Some time ago I received a dress that I have wanted to own for many years; Innocent World's Frigg JSK in ivory. I might say it's my dream dress, but I feel like I've grown over the dream dress phase, when I was frantically searching for and willing to pay almost anything to get the dress I really wanted. Neverthless, the dress is indeed very dreamy and I am so happy to finally have it. Pictures don't do it justice - it's so much more gorgeous in real life. I'm considering this to be my wedding dress, so until then I try not to wear it.

I also popped into Minna Parikka shop. They have mint green shopping bags now! So cute!

I bought the Angora Soft shoes in black. They'll be great for eveyday wear.

I also bought myself a new wallet. I really like the powdery roses compined with the soft green.

My fiancé gave me Minna Parikka's bunnyear shoes in powder pink as our anniversary gift, so yep, now I have them in every colourway. If you ever need a crazy bunny woman, feel free to call me.
